Exporting a calibration profile for MERGING+ANUBIS interface

Important!
If you've updated to Anubis firmware v1.4.0, SoundID Reference profile import feature is temporarily unavailable. Merging Technologies are aware of the issue and working on a fix ASAP. In the meantime, there is a workaround to roll back to the previous version of the Anubis firmware - Firmware 1.2.6.

Profile export functionality for MERGING+ANUBIS

With the SoundID Reference 5.1.0 version release, you can now export calibration profiles for your headphones and speakers and import them onto your MERGING+ANUBIS interface! For more information and FAQs about the Sonarworks + Merging Technologies integration, see our article here.

The exported calibration profile will include your settings selected for the specific profile. To learn about what exactly is included in the exported calibration profile, see details here.

This feature is available in SoundID Reference 5.1.0 and later (full license owners only). A fully licensed unit of MERGING+ANUBIS interface is necessary with Anubis v1.2.5 (or later) firmware installed.


Exporting a calibration profile from SoundID Reference

  1. In the output panel in the SoundID Reference systemwide app, select the preset you would like to export and make sure that calibration is enabled. Click on “...” and select “Export

  2. Choose your device and click "Select"

  3. Enter the serial number of your MERGING+ANUBIS interface (e.g. A123456), click "Next". In the following step, click "Next" to export the file to the provided file directory

  4. File is exported successfully! Right after exporting a profile, you can choose the calibration in the SoundID Reference app to be disabled in order to avoid double calibration when you import the profile into your Anubis interface.

NOTE! By default, the exported calibration profile (a .bin file) will be saved in the following directory:

  • Windows:
    AppData\Local\Sonarworks\SoundID Reference\Sonarworks Projects\Exported Presets
  • Mac:
    ~Library/Sonarworks/SoundID Reference/Sonarworks Projects/Exported Presets

 

What's in the file name?

The file name of your exported calibration profile will include identifiers to help you recognize the target mode and the name of the preset you have exported.

For example, if you exported a translation check mode, the file name will include “translation check” in its title (e.g., Beyerdynamic DT 880 - Translation check - In-ear Average).

 

Importing the calibration profile into the Anubis interface

The exported calibration profile will include

A successful profile export will generate a .bin file which will include almost all of your assigned settings  (your preset data) with a couple of exceptions that will be handled on the integration device instead:

  •  Calibration profile: the selected speaker or headphone correction curve data
  •  Dry/Wet: the level of calibration applied
  •  Target curve: the selected target mode, with all of your custom settings applied
  •  Safe headroom: the upper limit of the output gain that prevents clipping
  •  Listening spot (speaker profiles only): volume and timing differences measured between speakers
  •  Limit controls (speaker profiles only): frequency range affected by calibration

IMPORTANT! Only selected and enabled features of the output preset in SoundID Reference will be exported. Make sure the Calibration is Enabled in SoundID Reference, so the features are successfully included in the export.

 

Is everything being processed from the exported calibration file?

No, MERGING+ANUBIS will use its own processing solution for these features:

  •  Output gain: output gain control will take place on the Anubis interface
  •  Filter type: processing will take place on the Anubis interface, using its own IIR filter solution
  •  Safe headroom: the values are exported in the profile, applied via functionality on the Anubis interface
