Our latest 2025 update of SoundID Reference brings improvements for Universal Audio Apollo X integration, eliminates a Steinberg-host freeze, streamlines translation-check workflows, and expands our ever-growing headphone library – now well past 500 supported models. Here’s what changed and why it matters.
Smoother Universal Audio Apollo X workflow
- Measurement mode starts sooner—fewer clicks before you can capture your room or cans
- You can now silence repetitive warning pop-ups, keeping focus on the desired functionality

Stability fix for Cubase, Nuendo & WaveLab
A rare but nasty freeze that appeared when the SoundID Reference plug-in was loaded in Steinberg hosts is gone. Open your projects, hit play, and carry on mixing.
Translation-check reliability boost
Both the headphone profile and preset selector now load correctly every time you toggle Translation Check, so you can audition mixes on virtual devices without hiccups.
Smarter output-gain handling & other quality-of-life tweaks
- Output gain now updates only when truly needed—no surprise level jumps at launch.
- Tooltips sit where they should when exporting presets to integrated hardware.
- Install SoundID Reference to folders containing non-Unicode characters without a fuss.
- Cleaner naming conventions across all partner integrations.
Four new headphone profiles—who benefits?
