A harmonic is a wave with a frequency that is a whole multiple of the fundamental or base frequency. A 60 Hz tone can have harmonics of 120 Hz (2nd harmonic), 180 Hz (3rd harmonic), 240 Hz (4th harmonic), etc. Even harmonics are often described as warm and round while odd harmonics are often described as more aggressive or grittier.
