Term: K System

An audio metering system that provides target loudness levels for different styles of music masters. The K system relies on a calibrated monitor environment. The K-20 standard for classical music defines the target average level of an entire piece of music as -20 dBFS. K-14 is for pop music and K-12 is for Top40 broadcast music.
