Audio filters typically refer to a single frequency band of boost or attenuation. Multiple filters may be combined to create a more sophisticated equalizer. Common filter types include high-pass, low-pass, bandpass, peaking, and shelving. Filters can use active or passive circuitry and may be analog or digital.
