Headphones with an enclosure around the speaker so that the headphone sound is isolated is only heard by the listener and not “out in the room.” Pros: privacy and isolation for recording sessions. Cons: exaggerated bass response and lack of stereo soundstage. The Sony MDR-7506 is a closed-back headphone.
