How to uninstall SoundID Reference (Mac)?
To uninstall the SoundID Reference app, first quit the app as shown in the screenshot below.
Proceed by dragging files/applications to the Trash icon in Dock. Alternatively, select the file and use the keyboard shortcut Cmd+Delete.
You'll find SoundID Reference files in these locations if you wish to delete the files manually:
Applications
- /Macintosh HD/Applications/SoundID Reference
- /Macintosh HD/Applications/SoundID Reference Measure
Plugins

AU - /Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/SoundID Reference AU Plugin.component
-
AAX - /Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/SoundID Reference AAX plugin.aaxplugin

VST - /Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/SoundID Reference VST plugin.vst
Calibration profiles, settings and log files, and other data
- /Macintosh HD/Users/Username/Library/Sonarworks/SoundID Reference
Note that the Users > Library folder on Mac is a hidden directory by default. To show/hide hidden files and folders in Finder, open finder and press Command+Shift+Dot. Alternatively, to show hidden files you can execute a Terminal command - see here.
SoundID Reference driver
In some cases, after an unsuccessful uninstall attempt, the Systemwide app can still be present and listed as an available audio device in Sound Settings/Audio MIDI Setup. You can find it and remove it manually from the following location:
- /Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/SoundID Reference.driver
You can also remove the SoundID Reference driver via Terminal.
Launch the Terminal app (use Cmd+Space to search for it, or locate it in Launchpad). Then enter (copy-paste) the following command into the Terminal window and hit the Enter key to execute it.
sudo rm -rf "/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/SoundID Reference.driver"
After removing the driver, reboot your Mac to complete the process:
