Measuring multichannel systems
Supported export types: Speaker calibration profile - multichannel
To prepare your setup for the measurement, please ensure that:
- If your audio interface or speakers has EQs and/or delays applied to the speaker outputs, you have turned off both EQs and Speaker delays for all of the channels.
- If the bass management is applied to your setup, it must be enabled before the measurement.
- Use a network audio-enabled audio interface to connect an external microphone preamp, and route the microphone signal to your multichannel interface over a network connection
- For the measurements, you will need a microphone stand and an appropriate microphone clip for the measurement microphone. We highly recommend using both.
Once you have ensured that the guidelines above are met, launch the Measure app and proceed with the measurement process as shown here.
Exporting the calibration profile
With the measurement process completed and a calibration profile saved, please follow these instructions:
- Launch SoundID Reference standalone app
- Open your calibration profile
- Choose one of the three target curves - Flat Target, Dolby Atmos Music, Custom Target
- Exporting a calibration profile for supported devices
IMPORTANT! The multichannel calibration profile can only be used as a Stereo (L/R channels) with SoundID Reference standalone app. If you need to adjust a Custom Target curve, you can playback media and listen to the changes you're making, the export will include the target mode selected and changes will apply to all the channels your system supports. The exported calibration profile will include:
- Calibration Curve: Applied calibration curve of the measured speakers
- Target Curve: determined by the target mode: Flat, Custom EQ, Translation Check, Dolby Atmos music curve
- Dry/Wet: the level of calibration applied
- Listening Spot: volume and timing differences measured between speakers
- Limit Controls: frequency range affected by calibration
- Preset name: Name of the calibration profile
Importing the calibration profile in DADman Control Center
The exported calibration profile will be saved as a text file containing all the information on each channel you have measured with the number of EQ lists covering Frequency, Gain, and Q. This data will have to be manually applied in the DADman Control Center software.
- Open the exported .txt file and launch the DADman Control Center app
- In the Monitor "Mon" section click on the Eq button
- Select your Left channel and copy the Delay value from the exported .txt file
- Click on 'Add eq.' in the Eq. Control section to the channel (amount should match the export file data)
- Copy/paste the Freq, Gain, and Q values accordingly to the channel Eq you have created
