Simply draw automation curves to reduce the level of any offensive syllables. This works well for sibilance, plosives, and loud breaths.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pros:<\/strong> Extremely transparent. Adjust the amount and shape of dip to achieve transparent reduction.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DUE:<\/strong><strong> De-esser plugins<\/strong>. Choose your plugin and set your parameters. Most de-essers provide wide-band and split band processing and variable frequency band detection modes. Experiment with the parameters to find the most transparent settings for a particular song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pros:<\/strong> Relatively simple to set.&nbsp; <strong>Cons: <\/strong>May not handle multiple problem frequencies. A few dB of reduction can be extremely transparent but listen carefully for overall tonal changes to the vocal. Automate the threshold control for even more precise de-essing.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TRE:<\/strong><strong> Multiband compression<\/strong>. Choose the frequency range, set a fast attack, fast release, and high ratio, and adjust the threshold to only compress the offensive bits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pros:<\/strong> Effective sibilance control over a wide range of frequencies <strong>Cons: <\/strong>Multiband processing often changes the sonic character of a sound.
